It's all about everyday

I had a course, project management, with Ashley last semester. I love her passion and ideas. I've always wondering how can be so many interesting ideas pop up in her mind since we pretty much have a similar background, undergraduate major has nothing to do with IDD&E, get involved in this field only two years. Her notebook gave me the answer I think. It all about everyday, every detail in life. This reminds me a famous old saying in China, the palest ink is way better than the best memory. And this is exactly the quality that an instructional designer needs to has. Keep record of everyday, change something, create something, and learn from your surrounding. Because our job is to create better stuff that allow people to learn better.

Web 2.0 and Model Update

Obviously the whole globe is entering an OPEN era of internet. With more web 2.0 tools and open source applications used in educational area, web-based ISD model becomes a new trend of instructional material to be applied in the process of learning. It is more like an open system for learners to open their mind to no matter input or output what they get within the entire system.

For the update of my model,
Orientation
I considered my model is prescriptive since this model is used to describe how the interns in ET project are able to clarify their teaching objectives in order to achieve better teaching outcome such as help students to pass some standard English tests.

Knowledge Structure
My model will be a circle includes basically two areas, identify the problem and solve the problem. The process of ADDIE will be implemented within the two areas from identify to solve. And last reach the best solution for the stated problem.

Expertise Level
Novice. The model is designed for interns, mostly college students who are interested in educational fields and passionate about being a instructor to help non-native English speaker learning English. Therefore, my model is focuses on novice.

Context
NGO - AIESEC - ET Program - Interns

Level
My model is used within the Interns department of ET program. Thus the model can be broke down into several units which can be modified in order to accommodate different steps.

I am still working on the diagrams to make it more understandable. Making it into a circle is not easy for sure...but I am making progress of the details right now.

Web Conference with Patrick

It was thrilled to have a teleconference with Patrick from Price Waterhouse Cooper (PWC). What makes more excited is Patrick was an international student who is now working in American industry. He truly introduced us tons of useful information of working in evaluation and assessment department in a leading enterprise. As an international student, I am always confused of how to be chose and accepted in a American company. PWC is a worldwide cooperation building relationships that create value for business. Students always feel proud entering PWC after they graduated in China. I am interested in technology-based learning, and am willing to working in industry after I finished my study. Completing my master's study makes me considering to learn more about evaluation and analysis. Patrick's talk encouraged me to pursue my dream in order to work well with different experts from different background.

As for my ISD model for this semester, I am going to use Romi's FEA model to create my since my case is more focuses on Front-End-Analysis. With the possible causes and possible solutions from my analysis, my model will be more like a circle on instead of with arrows and squares.
